Congrats on your American citizenship Hollyann!
Wow, and what a day to become offical on too. This makes me think of how sometimes days that often have horrible memories tied to them can still turn around and years later or even years before without knowing have something wonderful happen on them. Obviouly, 9/11 has been taken by history and turned into a day America will always remember with grief, sorrow, hate, sadness but perhaps among those feeling we can now all feel happiness for Hollyann's achievement. Legal American citizenship isn't exactly handed out by the buckets full! It took a lot of hard work I'm sure.
Quick story also. On 9/11 back some years ago I learned that someone who I met on that fateful day had a birthday that day! I was conflicted the moment i heard that because, honestly, what bad timing. I often think about her when this day rolls around.
But, again, sometimes it's best to let go of our feeling surrounding a certain date or at least make room for other emotions to be involved in it.
Another good example is that on November 13th 1994 I went into surgrey where the doctor completly operated wrong. From that horrible day nothing but bad came into my life and I have hated it ever since. Seeing it as a day to morn the loss of many things and boil inside with hate for the man who messed up my legs.
Then, to my amazment (God, you sly dog you) I met someone who has brought nothing but happiness, joy and laughter into my life. I won't say it just yet but I think I'm falling in love with him. In eitehr case, turns out November 13th is his birthday.
Sometimes the universe never stops amazing me. Everytime I grow to have reason to feel hate, love steps in to, if nothing else, even things out.
