I think its proffesional in many respects. There is a hollow hollynes to his form as the light scirts to his back and his almost 'all powerful' eyes, and yet devil like claws are growing from above, almost resembling an infection or taint. This is shown more and more in this figure, for example the horns in a sloping angle and the darkened mountain in the back ground. As he has said, this picture gives much of a 'allen' being as he seems to grow, and yet retaining earlier characterisitcs.
Myddraal summed up a lot of it, but I was going to add that in some ways, I'm reminded of Milton's depiction of Satan in Paradise Lost, where he portrays a devil that in the beginning part is still trying to come to grips with what's happened to him before the evil twists him so completely that there's no coming back.
