Outside the Restaurant Window

I tugged on Freak's leash when he tried to stop and sniff a flower. Hesitantly, he followed me.

We passed a restaurant shop window. By chance, I looked in and saw two anthrops-- a wolf and a cat-- eating a meal. I stopped and, with me hardly noticing, I let Freak's leash slip from my grasp.

"Eikyu?" He said, "You dropped my leash."

Unable to stem the tears that tumbled from my eyes, I said, "I wish I was them."
