It's been a while since I've attempted realism. However, I decided to give it a more painterly feel that downright copying a photograph completely.
This scene in the Phantom of the Opera Trailer was the most heart-wrenching of them all, I think ;_;
However, it was very difficult to make him look distraught, rather then giddy. =/ I'm still not sure if I've accomplished that feat. The quote is from the musical, and is one of the saddest lines, IMO. I thought it fit the pic.
Isn't Gerry Butlar the smexiest phantom evverrr??? *dies*

That is hardcore awsome to the extreme, homes.
(PotC, though?)

Heart-wrenching is exactly right, ye gods... this movie practically tears me into pieces every time I see it. Gerard is absolutly divine as the Phantom. Beautiful painting, you captured the emotion, and the quote is so... *sniff*... I think I'm gonna melt again...

I agree on that last sentance. He IS the sexiest, and the closest to the image and voice I had in my head--I actually managed to read the original before the Michael Crawford version was engrained into my skull. Gerry is much slimer and his voice has this nice edge to it ("rock and roll" as ALW said in an interview...). And when he's in the red death costume? *drool* I'll take tight red velvet over fruity pants and giant hat any day. ;)

I think you did an excellent job with the emotion. In fact, so well, that as a thumbnail I thought that this was little more than a screen cap with lyrics added (I found it through a search). I really like the paint-look. And it matches so well, that if I hadn't seen your other artwork, I would have been skeptical and thought this was a screen cap with a fancy filter.
The rose came out wonderful, as well. When he crushes it and turns against the lovebirds might just be more heart-wrenching than those lyrics.
Don't you just want to hug him, take him home, and make it all better?
(I'm surprised there weren't more comments on this...)
