An Open Letter to Dokuro and Kakurine

I don't care much for furry art, but you still show some sort of a point. Sure, having a "fursona" sounds pretty damn silly to the untrained human ear (in fact I find it quite hard to take someone seriously when used), but people need to grow up. You have idiots on the internet, wherever you go.

Comparing the Civil Rights movement to the "furry movement" is hardly appropriate, however. The Civil Rights movement was an integral part for African Americans across America in the 1950's. At that time you couldn't just leave and go to a different town to escape the hate. It was everywhere. Furry-art, is a growing internet community, with its own websites. Yes, that's right, the fuckin' internet. Maybe even a convention or two. But there, you won't get flamed. Excluding your typical troll that hates furries.

I'm not the kindof person to name call, and I don't discriminate the creed, race, religion, or "fursona" of someone. I respect the art that these people make. I think "fucking furries" is pretty weird, along with any form of "hentai". But that's what I think. You don't have to listen to me. You can go back to deviantArt where apparently there is respect for that kindof thing. DeviantArt is full of e-dictators, in my view. You may have noticed that I did not make a comparison between DeviantArt, and Nazi-Germany. That would've been ignorant of me, to compare something completely harmless(deviantArt) to something that caused the deaths of 6 million jews along with all the other minorities put into Concentration Camps(Nazi-Germany).

It's a shame, that you don't bother to check the "harmless stuff" and "deadly stuff" in your comparisons. When you said that "making fun of furries to follow the bandwagon created by your friends" is like "doing drugs to follow the bandwagon created by your friends", you forgot one key factor.

Making fun of furries to be cool doesn't cause any physical harm.

Doing drugs to be cool, obviously causes physical harm.

Now you could say something like "My friend has a drug addiction/or has passed away from drugs, so it's ok for me to talk about it", and so could I. But that would be an elitist thing to do, and I'm sure neither of us would pull out a bullshit excuse like that.

I'm not defending those who mock the "furr-affinity". Do what you want. Draw what you want. I'm not stopping you. I draw a bloody windows cursor for fun, so in point, I have a weird, "curs-ona". Yeah, but even if someone makes fun of it, (which has yet to happen sheerly because that's not the cool thing to do nowadays) I'll still continue drawing because it's fun for me.

Another point I'd like to make, is that neither of you bothered to realize that you pretty much gave out a perfect response in your rant to furry flaming.

"If you see something you don't like, then shut the fuck up, ignore it, move on, and go on with your misreable life."

"You're not going to change anything by bitching about it"

Hey, you guys pretty much explained the last bit for me. Keep on truckin'!

I agree with what Dokuro and Kakurine say about the furry thing, but I also agree with what you say, it really is kinda inappropriate to compare "Furry haters" to the Civil Rights Movement. Then again, I think they're just trying to prove their point, using historic examples. I personally don't have a problem anything they said, but I can see how someone else would be easily offended, and it's definately not my place to say what is right or wrong anyways. :)

Sorry, I just felt compelled to say something. :3
{Kudos to you for that last bit, even if it was a bit mean. }

You know, if you would send a similar letter to all politicians on both sides of the aisle, we might actually get something done in this country.

It's OK for people to have opinions, but I do think people need to be more careful with bandying about such out-of-proportion examples. To me that's about as bad as the name-calling (also wrong) that occasioned that rant.

The harm done is more of psychological harm than physical harm. True, it's not as brutal as those things, but the concept of hatred is the same. That's what I'm refering to. That's why I felt it was appropriate. Because it's seeing the furry ARTISTS as something other than human. The thing is with the internet, behind the screens, are real people. Just because it's online doesn't mean it's not important.

And I do not like DeviantART. Me and Dokuro both moved here because yeah, DeviantART is unfair when it comes to the MODS. But for the PEOPLE, we didn't run into "furry" problems.

As for the african americans being unable to escape the hate, some of them were able to migrate up to the north, where though discrimination is there, it was not as bad as it in the south. The "furries" are usually driven to go to fur affinity, but even there you have the people who come only to make fun of them, or to harass them.

And again with things being dangerous and not being dangerous on the topic of drugs, we were refering to the concept of follow the leader, not so much the effects of it.

But you know, you have your way of seeing it, and we have ours. We just wanted to state our minds and opinions.

Kakurine Says:

I applaud you because I believe that people, when they do not agree, should be able to back up their statements of why they do not. Also, this was done in a fashion that was not flaming, and I respect that. You disagreed with our point, but you did it in an intelligent manner.

However.

I still stand beside my opinion. Although it did not cause physical harm, there is some psychological harm, emotional harm, that is done. With it being not as bad in the north as it is in the south, with the north there were less physical attacks with the south. With fur affinity, there are less attacks there of flamers, but there still are those few cases. I felt it was appropriate to use history as a reference, because all though it is online, the concept of hatred is still the same.

Dokuro already posted my comment, so I won't repeat myself any further.

But I already commented to you back, was it really nessecary to make it into a submission? That's just my question. Not saying you have to take it down, but it just seemed a little odd to post it.
