Spider

Spider

I watched a spider the other day
And how it spun its silky web
Immediately I thought of how the string holding us together
Has Despair entwined within its threads

I thought of how it used to be
When we were the closest friends
I searched for something deeper between us
And suddenly... it ends

I can’t let you go
I don’t even know
Who I am without you at my side
But seeing you
Do what you do
Is bringing me closer to the knife

Your eyes shine all the time
With a love I could never claim as my own
Your heart pumping life into your body while mine
Becomes stone

How much I long to stare at you
Yet when I do I’m simply put to shame
I’m reminded that this love could never be;
The spider’s web goes up in flames

I can’t let you go
I don’t even know
Who I am without you at my side
But seeing you
Do what you do
Is bringing me closer to the knife

Your love, sisterly or more
Without either I couldn’t stand
To live this life of solitude...
I rested my head in your hands

Thought I needed you
Thought you were who I seek
Thought you were the strength I needed
Now I know I was weak

I watch the spider finish its task
And slowly remove my mask
With or without you I know I’ll last
‘Til the bitter end

Needless to say, I found myself in a bit of a fowl mood when this was written. Yeah yeah... full of all that angsty emotional crap. Ah well. There was this little spider making a proper mess of my window screen when I wrote it x.x
