A rather toilsome endeavor that resulted in "cover art" (so to speak) for a story I've been working on for years. This underwent approximately 45 million revisions before I settled on a design. It's got its flaws, but at least I did enjoy painting the horses.
The picture was drawn in pencil, scanned, and painted in Photoshop.

The detail on the horse fur (hair??) and the girl's hair is astounding. Kudos to you once again.

i'm especially taken with the details you've put into the clothes and the intricate designs of the horses' gear and fur.

There isn't it anything I can say that hasn't already been said..

Interesting...I get kind of a "Helen of Troy" feeling about the story from this, that these men are risking their lives on her behalf, and I can't tell exactly how much she cares about that fact. I wonder if that's anywhere close to the story or not?

This picture has got a very feeling composition. All my attempts at "cover art" or posters always turn out looking rather cluttered and chaotic. This has a nice balance to it, without being bound too tightly by symmetry.

Out of curiousity, was the black horse, perchance, modeled after a friesian? It's what it strikes me as...

How do you do it? 0.o
