One of the six furnaces that blasted nearly day and night to dispose of the bodies of prisoners who had succumbed to their treatment. Around 40,000 corpses were burned by this industrial instrument of death out of the over 60,000 that died. At times the work load was so high that three corpses were stacked into on furnace at a time. It is unknown how many Soviet prisoners who were shot here in later years, were also disposed of in this manner, as the guards thought so little of the Russians they did not keep proper records of their deaths.
