A simple wire barrier is all the separates Hell from Earth. When American soldiers came unto the camp on its liberation on the 29th of April 1945 they saw something that would later become an undying symbol of Dachau. Corpses of many of the camps desperate detainees were strung up amongst the barbed wire as they flung themselves against it desperate to escape what they thought was immenient liquidation by the fleeing SS.

The Camps main memorial sculpture is a depiction of this.
