FreeSketch Round Two

Here's the second round of freesketch funtimes, done today at work on a very slowwww day.

Michael, for :
I'm glad I was given this guy to draw, because I love drawing old people, and I don't draw ENOUGH of them. I'm sorry I didn't get the girl in there, but around the seventh draft I just said "To hell with it!" and went with my forte, which is the portrait.

Ransom, for :
I liked his hair, and I liked how kind of angry he looked in the reference I was given. So I made him look kinda angry. The values came out the most successful in this sketch than the others, and that's cause I had a lot of nice contrasts of the light shirt agains the dark denim and yaddayadda. I like his angryface. Though I may or may not have made him appear a bit too old. :0

Crysee, for :
I'm happy that each time I've done this, I've had at least one anthro-esque chara to do. And Crysee filled the role! She's cute, so I gave her a happy face, with um. NO HANDS. 8D Cause it was more about her hair and face than anything. Hahatheshirt.

Brigg, for :
Oh man I didn't do justice to this guy AT ALL. But I liked drawing him. He was a lot like Vader; the success of this one was almost entirely based on value. Cause the pencils were just, blehhhhhh. I NEEDED to fill everything in. But I like his face, and I think his eyes are kickin', so all's well.

Moogle, for :
This one inspired me to rethink my list of not-going-to-draws for next round, honestly. I had to put my feelings of deep-seated aggression towards the Nevergoingaway-Fantasy franchise and try to remember what these things looked like. I think I got away with it, considering that I tricked my brain into thinking it was a California Pooh Bear! Nice, simple structure, easy value fills--this one wasn't too tough.

Leja, for :
Loved the reference, love the hair. I liked the character, so I liked drawing her. I went quickly, considering how close to the end of my shift it aws, but I like how nicely things pulled together here.

So that's it! I think I'm going to take a break for a while before kicking it in to round three; cause the heat is just knocking me OUT.
