Oh yes. That BG is completely BS. It was something I did rather quickly so she wouldn't be just standing with a white BG.
And before questions arise, no I've not yet seen Pirates of the Carribean. This character was created with someone else's character in mind. The artist, Wicked Sairah (found on DA n' VCL) , has a tasmanian devil pirate character named Roscoe. A while back, I said I'd create a character for Roscoe's crew. I did (some odd time later).
Meet Mina, a Tasmanian wolf / tiger and Pickles the kiwi! (Who tragically lost his eye in a horrible pickle-jar accident.)
Decided to color her up as practice. I'm rusty.
