the reason he has a brookly accent is that the kanto accent of japan is the equivelant. that character speaks in the kanto dialect which has negative sorta thuggish connotations... or simple/country. In other words his character needed an accent, you'd get it if you saw the original show in Japanese. Sorry to get technical
