This is the stippling project that I really liked the concept of, hated the execution of, and got a whopping 71% C on for "too much negative space." so much for, you know. creativity. (and quality. I probably would've gotten a better grade if I'd made a whole bunch of sloppy dots that filled the page. nice grading system.) ANYWAY.

I've had this sitting on top my scanner for weeks, wondering how I was going to scan the sucker. I did it a quarter at a time (more or less) and cloned the grey blob out of the middle. Believe it or not, the version I uploaded is actually 35% the size of the original scan. HUGE.

This is about as surreal as I've ever done, and I really like it. I love how the folds in the guy's "shirt" (supposed to be morphing into a field or something) turned out. but stippling can die. that guy and his field? I spent about four hours shading his dots.

I used a magazine pic of Sakura (from his L'Arc~en~Ciel days) for the dude, random googled pics of doves, and basketball players' hands clipped from a sports mag. Hands sketch is here (<--link), small size w/o a border is here, and the half-size (which is about a megabyte) is here. I'm kind of attached to the border.

There's supposed to be more of a gradient between the light and dark parts of the field, and of course I can only see this when it's not two feet high. oh well.
