Star Cross

To fix your soul upon a star
Is to choose the guide
By which you are led to your destiny.
This cord we cannot sever from us
But it is to us to decide
To what we shall lash the trailing end.
Fix not your soul to the lights of Earth--
For they are of ash and to dust they shall lead.

I choose a star beyond the sky
For the stars of Earth are mere reflection
Of a greater light yet
In folly would I deny the reality of the cord
That inevitably connects us to some Other
Trusting not in the faith of man
To lead me upon the path that is straight.
My star only the sightless eye may see.

Kinneko Says:

Well very written, as others have said. Sadly, I'm not the greatest translator on poetry. In fact, I bombed that test last year... ahaha... however much I may love literature, I have the hardest time understanding poetry. It's a fault, I'm afraid.

But yours are still fun to read, and some do make sense to me, but just the way you word things makes it that much better :)

Very nice meaning and pretty good poem. My suggestions are to work on giving a more poetic flow to it. To do this, try to go through some thesauruses and such to find synonyms for certains words and find things that seem to flow better.

Galloglasses Says:

Shiny :3

I liked the last line. Really punctuated the entire poem, yet it seems to have more then one meaning.
