Star-Crossed

A side-ways glance and
Our gazes collide--
'Tis a duel tonight we face.

Daggers, at your mark.

Serpentine tongue as sharp as sword an' blade
Slash as you will:
My palm, my ankle
And my side.

Carve your marks
Into our heart and hand,
Together, the tears we shed--
We are one in the same!

Halt!

Daggers, retreat back to your sheathes!
May the blood you've shed
Upon this frigid eve
Quench your fires.

Behold, the chaos you have wrought!
This ground is stained now
With but embers--
Pray not they spark again.

Fiery suns set,
A pool of cresented cool
Now setting the stage.

This night my other lies
On his bed of stone,
His beloved alter.

This one a mattress,
Atop these feather of lead--
This, my comfort,
Bullets on which I lay my head.

I wrote this for English class. :] I love the image I found on the internet for it, too. Yeah. I fail at poetry.

STORY: Two people clash; one of them tears the other apart about their religion, how there is only one God, and he doesn't listen. The one person makes the Pagan feel horrible, and they go their seperate ways. The Christian sleeps with no worries, he feels superior argueing about the religion he knows nothing of (his religon and the Pagan's), and the Pagan...well, yeah. I don't hate Christians. I'm pro-religion. :] I'm anti-ignorance.

SYMBOLISM: Take a stab, and if you do well enough, I'll give you a cookie (or gift art?).

This poem is deticated to all persecuted for their religion, even if they aren't Pagan.

Pride of self, all the way.
