Fading

Live fast, and never die%u2026

Taste my pain with just one kiss
Tell me the daylight you will not miss
Take the gift I have to give
And in the shadows I make you live
Fear not the darkness my young one
It comforts you more than the traitorous sun
No light will touch that lily white flesh
Where the colors of life and death will mesh
Your lips of red fade to white
And the feelings of mortals become quite trite

Live past, and wish you would die%u2026

You learn to live without regret
Reaching deeper for your tourniquet
Time fades and begins to pale
But for some reason we begin to ail
We yearn for what we left buried in a coffin
And think upon the past quite often
Immortality is wasted looking back
Trying to find the smallest crack
To redeem ourselves before we leave
On the stake that we so willingly receive

Live last, and live too late%u2026

This is a poem about vampires because I admire and love them. It is supposed to capture the feeling of immortality as it takes its toll on the psyches of vampires. Enjoy!
