The Loss Within Me

When you're so far away
and I need you here today
all I can do is sit here blankly
staring at the t.v set as it drones on.

The same thing over and over
the same channels
the same programs.
The time runs slowly as the day drags on.
The days without you.

I go to bed at night
and roll over to where you would be
but all I find is empty space
extra blankets, and pillows.

A tear streams down my face
as memories of you fill my mind.
Slowly my eyes shut
and I close off the thoughts to you.
The night carries me through the same slumber.

A slumber filled with dreams of you.
Everywhere I turn, there is you.
No matter how hard I try
to block you out of my mind.
You are always there.

The same buzz of the alarm
startles me upon my sleep.
I spring to my feet
and look around the room
to find nothing, not even you.

I sigh and turn to leave
and go on with the daily routine.
Get up, go to work, go to sleep.
Repeat.

The same thing everyday.
The same thing without you.
The loss within me.
Is you.
