Here is Benny, a Moluccan Cockatoo, at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. I volunteered there for three years before I moved to Arkansas.
Benny is another one of my favorites. He was a surrendered pet - his old owners didn't want to keep him anymore because they thought he was too much work. Well, big parrots ARE a lot of work! Benny is very intelligent and playful. He talks a lot and can also immitate plenty of sounds. He's also very affectionate and loves scritches, as well as being squirted with the water bottle for a little mini-bath. Benny loves to greet guests and talk to himself all day, "who's a pretty bird? Benny's a pretty bird! I'm a pretty bird! Pretty bird pretty bird!"

Birds are scary

I love 'toos! Especially moluccans. I met one named Maggie once. She was the sweetest thing. Broke my head though when I realised I looked like the breeder because her and another parrot (a scarlet macaw) screamed "MOM!!!" when I went to leave. :/ They are such sweet birds though.
