This piece is dedicated to my mother. Why? Because of the conversation that ensued when I showed her what I was working on (and I don't do this for the following reasons ...)
Mom, holding pic: "He has only three arms. Why does he have three arms?"
Me, on the floor, looking at her with a mixture of pity and afrontedness (word?).
A little later, Mom: "He looks sad. [To my father] Doesn't he look sad? He's sad because he only has three arms!"
Both Dad and I didn't even try to explain that the "third arm" was a wing; she didn't get it.
Dear gods, say that I got my talent from my grandparents!
Anyway, this fellow (who does NOT have three arms) is Zenith Aquanight, one of my oldest characters. I'm quite fond of Zenith, and someday, I'll write his story in full. It takes place in the same Universe as the Vahazayi, and they cross over a few times.
