This is just one of my many recording tests, the riff is one made up by the guitarist of my band (SO DON'T STEAL IT), and I liked it so I just used it to try some new things. Finally found a good mic position that I like, and this is mostly just a test to see how a doubled guitar sounds panned with one track done with single coils (left) and a high-output humbucker (right). If I could get two similar but noticably different pickups with comparable output, this probably would've worked a lot better. Oh well, the contrast is pretty interesting.
Done with a Squier Strat HSS (Sort of, SD Hotrails in the bridge), into a Peavey 5150 with a Marshall 1960TV 412 cab. Then captured with a Shure SM57 positioned directly in front of the dust cap, but pointed toward the edge of the speaker. This run into a small yamaha mixer then my Creative Audigy2 ZS PCMCIA card. All this into Adobe audition. Post processing just consisted of compression and levels.
Drums are programmed via fruity loops then compressed in adobe.
Bass is a Squier Precision bass run directly into the yamaha mixer then the soundcard. No amp here or the bass tone would be better.
Maybe I'll upload more of my production tests later.
Also, it's really short, and doesn't kick in until a few seconds into the file, so you'll just have to wait for it to start. No lead section, too lazy and my leads are horrible lately.
