This is old art. A few weeks ago I was reading my third Redwall book, Mattimeo.
Badly wounded by the rat general Cluny the Scourage, Chickenhound find himself clinging to life beside the dead body of his mother, Sela the Healer. The fox pup crawls to Redwall Abbey, where he is given treatment for his wounds and nutured back to health. But instead of repaying their kindness in turn, he kills the gentle old recordkeeper and makes a break for it with some quickly plundered artifacts. Seeking refuge from both the Redwallers and the Scourage, Chickenhound makes the mistake of hiding inside of rotting log. Realizing too late that the log was already occupied, he is horribly malfigured by the huge adder Asmodeus.
Several seasons pass. Driven insane by the gruesome death of his mother (and possibly, the snake venom seeping into his brain), Chickenhound becomes even more twisted. His grudge towards the abbey boils and seethes. He christens himself Slagar, the Cruel and dons a harlequin mask to hide his destroyed face. He now glares out the windowsill of the abondoned St. Ninian's chapel, biding his time and planning his revenge against Redwall Abbey.
Many things I don't like about the final outcome of this. It's alright, but the original drawing wasn't so great. I am, however, pleased that I got the windowsill to come out decent.
