I may get hell for this, but I'll put up a good fight if I do.
I saw this thing on PBS (public broadcasting station) about Mary Magdalene and about how signs throughout history point to her being one of the disciples, if not even the "significant other" of Jefus. At the time I had just gotten my shiny new acrylic paints, and wanted to try them out. So, I drew Mary as a disciple, even gave her one of them shiny halo things like they do for iconic figures and what not.
She's holding the holy grail, yes, or what I'd envision it to look like. She's also holding books and I tried to give her a teaching stance, because there was allusion to her being something of a teacher as well.
She reminds me of my little Vicar Linda for some reason. ^ ^ ::misses her vicar:: She painted little smiley faces on her toe nails for when they were going to wash her feet for her ordination.

Interesting. I love those shows. ^^ I like the pose you used, reminicent of the old works of the saints or virgin mary. And the way you applied the color. It has a good stroke quality to it. ^^
