Painting#1: The Hands- This is my favourite one out of the three. It took the most effort because I had to do it twice. I severly effed up the first one
I love to draw hands and I think they are the best and most interesting part of the human body. The picture makes them look a little funny, but take my word for it, it's the best one
I chose the oranges and yellows because they are calm and sweet which symbolize the beginning of the relationship. The innocence if you will.
The background is white because they are beginning, there is nothing that they are moving from.

Painting#2: The Kiss- I really dislike this one. In order to get the picture right I had someone take a photograph of a friend and myself in this pose and I made my nose look rather stupid My lips suck really bad as well, but oh well haha.
The green in this one is representational of comfort. They have passed the beginnings stages and are opening up to each other in different ways.
The background is mirroring the piece with the hands as a transition. The beginning stages are slowly fading behind them.

Painting#3: The Intimacy- I wasn't all that happy with this one either until it got a lot of attention. I was told by the Regional Arts vice principal that this painting had to come off the wall because she and the school principal were getting complaints from people who found it too graphic. Yes, I am implying that they are having sex, and yes, you can see a breast ( Gasp! ), but it was the only way I could get across what I wanted to get across. I was very angry, and I have friends who can back that up, that my painting had to come off without any of the people who had a problem with it coming to me. I think I have a right to defend my art. And really, that's all it is. Art.
I don't really think I need to explain this one. Red symbolized love and passion and as in the Kiss piece the background means the same. It is transition from one to the next.

I apologize for the lengthy-ness of this description, but I had to explain them. I really hope you guys like them. It took a lot of time and effort and I think the end result, when they are all side-by-side, is quite effective

Beautifully painted! I like the three a lot!
And sheesh - some people are stuck up. Since when is the naked human body not an appropriate subject for art? I like how you painted all three, very harmonic and flowing. Personally, I like the shading most in the hands picture, too, but the kiss picture attracts me most on an emotional level. And well - I don't think the third one is too suggestive at all, it is beautiful and harmonically painted.
The three pictures together are a bit wide though - maybe downsize them a bit for easier viewing (I only say this about pictures that don't fit on my 1600x1200 screen - can't imagine how painful it is for people with even lower resolution) or post the three separately for more detailed views?

;)

first of all; wow. I love these paintings and shal fav them when I'm done with this comment :)

The shading on all of them are awesome, but especially so on the hands. And the use of colours is brilliant, the transition from each piece to the next is very well done, you can clearly see how the relationship develops.

Tsk to whoever complained about the breast. How silly. like you said, nudes have been used since ... forever to create art. Too graphic? One breast ... O_o
Anyhoo, great job, I kind of agree with spiegelscherben about the size but I don't think that can be avoided, if you made it smaller we'd all have to squint at it, and submitting them separately wouldn't be as effective.
