One of my first pics with tablet. I was in kinda "dark" mood so i wanted to paint something with strong, dark atmosphere.
No ref, inspired by John Howe. (looked up to some of his works to gain idea of how to paint textures and such)
Painted in April 2004 in Photoshop 7 with Genius Wizardpen tablet. Took me a lot of time, about 30 hours i think...

wow! impressive! i could stare at this for hours...i like how the nightmare has glowing cracks running through it, and that there are highlights on the cracks. but i think i like the landscape, and how the creature and it both...meld.
