When I started this piece I was very angry/frustrated/aggravated. I quickly scribbled out a snarling wolf like I often do. I was still furious, so continued to work on this creature, letting all my anger pour into it. I sketched out the rest of the body, starting inking, I just got that snarling face inked and little bit of the neck and decided to skip ahead to the coloring, all the while quick and furious but then the colors started to flow and I found myself calming, starting to get that high I get when the colors are just right, do other artist experience this, I'm sure they do, were the colors make everything alright some how, it's weird and hard to explain and sort of embarrassing to talk about.
So the colors started to work their magic on me and this snarling creature was no longer an expression of anger but of strength and resilience in the face of adversity.
She was a dragon.
She is Xu Jaisheng.
