Healing Rains

Healing Rains

The healing rains
Fall o'er me
And onto the cracked earth
Falling free

The lightning strikes
Into the sand
Once! Twice! Thrice!
Baking the land

The darkened cloud
Covers the moon
Once shining and proud
Its light will be gone, soon

But Hark! What's this?
The storm is gone!
And post-delugial bliss
Comes with the dawn

The skyline has broken
Out from the blue
The sun a shining token
Her beams lighting, on the dew

And with the going of the storm
Is the coming of the green
For so long we've been waiting, somewhat forlorn
But now it's here! In a colourful dream

Hurry, Hurry! We must make haste!
And play amongst the trees
For soon they will go to waste
Taken by the breeze

Let's go swimming!
Oh, do let's!
For the fishing hole will be full again
Quick! Pull out the nets!

It's been a year since we've had the rains
And the earth is cracked and brown
And the grass is dead and brown again
And the water level's down

But Hark! What's this?
Clouds gather overhead
And the healing rains begin to fall
O'er us instead!

Well, after a long slump, I've written something again! That, and I've decided, after several nice comments from a certain artist, to continue uploading to my SA gallery! so, yeah, thanks LaunchSkylinne!

This isn't based of anything solid, me (still) growing up in a Semi-Urban environment.

But we are the middle of a drought (for the last 2 and a half years, mind), the whole of South-East Queensland, and since summer began, We've had some pretty good storms. Not enough to break the drought, but certainly enough to ensure that we don't die of dehydration anytime soon.

LaunchSkylinne Says:

Good stuff, you do a good job of painting a vivid picture with your words. I really like the way your rhyme scheme switches back and forth from abcb to abac, very clever.

Crazdude Says:

Awww that was so awesome! I love the imagery! Great work with meter and rhyme as well!
How can you say you're a bad writer?
