Quaggas are an extinct species of zebra. The last one died in 1883. It was killed because settlers thought it was less important than their goats and cows. It was a subspecies of the Burchell zebra (also extinct).

Shame. They were so gorgeous.

Decided to draw and watercolor my first anthro I really like how she came out --yet still, the watercolor is dulled to what it is RL. But still like how it came out :}

Might be for sale.

NOTE: I thought I'd edit this since people have the mistake of misreading what I originally typed. Yes. I know there's a quagga project, but as I stated above, it'll never be completely perfect. The quaggas were a branch of Burchell zebra that is EXTINCT as well. The project is using Gravy zebras primarily. They're close, but not a full match. Each zebra subspecies is different,.. and no amount of 15 years will replace the centuries it took for zebras of those species to get like that. :)

Quaggas doesn't mean just lacking stripes. They actually had a coat of rust that extended from their heads down the backs..almost akin to a blanket over their bodies. Scientific drawings, skins, and actual photo have shown this -- Making quaggas unique. This poster displays them all...as well as the zebras in the project. They will NEVER be the same as what evolution had given us before it was killed off. :)

Stunning...absolutely beautiful! I love the colors you've used on this...a very nice feeling of cool night, and yet with a promise of heat, a hint of it, mixed in! The position is beautiful, and the details are just enough to suggest more depth and more beauty.
