when party had her foal, the baby spent a lot of time... too much time... lying down. after a while, the foal would have problems getting up and would be too weak to nurse. we think it was the heat. so national spotlight's colt took over. he would watch the foal and eventually decide on his own that it had been long enough. he would then go over and start nudging the baby, gently at first and then getting more demanding. he would then grab the loose skin on the stiffles and move the baby's legs until they were positioned correctly and continue nudging until the smaller foal was up. after escorting party's baby back to party he would turn around and walk away. i managed to catch part of it on camera...
