This is both Fan Art and a self portrait. We had to create a piece for 2-D Design class that reflects our duality. I chose to do a self portrait. Half is me as Integra (from Hellsing by Kouta Hirano) whom I cosplay when I attend conventions. The other half is just me as I am, my artistic and focused side.
At first I tried to collage other images on each side (comic/manga images for the Integra side and art supplies on the me side) but it turned out to look like crap. I tried fixing it, and it looked worse. Then I spilled coffee on it and had to start all over again. I decided to use the primary colours for the background to tie together both sides of my personality. There are some other subtle meanings in this portrait, but I won't go into details. I am interested to see what others think or see in it, though.
Acrylic, ink, Prismacolor (TM) coloured pencils and markers on illustration board - original size: 15 x 20 inches
JPG compression has totally murdered the appearance. If enough people want, I'll upload a larger version that doesn't look so grainy.
