This has been included in the
New Masters of Fantasy 2004 CD collection. *glee*
The general idea of the picture is that the red-haired lady belongs to a civilisation that have reached quite far in technology and warfare, but have entrapped themselves while doing so. She looks at her soul, that is tied to her mechanical arm with glistening chains, and her eyes weep sorrow that they have never known.
At the same time, it is also a metaphor about our society that is in my opinion too focused on the materialistic values and limits its spiritual nature through fake social structures and greed.
Used
photoreference for her face.

Mechanical arm? It looks more to me to be wooden, like that of an Ent.
This picture captures a very unique idea, and present with just attention to detai that I shall be in awe a long time to come. Te photo reference is integrated into the whole piece beautifully, I have to favourite this and check out the rest of your gallery.
My favourite part is her bound soul, struggling to break free. Tell me, if her soul were to escape would the woman die as a result. A freedom in death.
