Project Lipizzaner: Calligramme

With hooves of deadly precision the great stallion leapt into the sky. The terrified cries of soldiers shattered the blood-bathed air. The stallion kicked into oblivion, assaulting hapless skulls with his killer hooves. Their screams were silenced, and the mount’s rider drew his sword to slay the remaining victims. Footmen scattered in fear of this warrior and his noble white steed. Alone they stood proud in the dreary dead landscape. For alone they were on being, one soul. Horse and man are no longer separated when the courageous Lipizzaner soars into the sky. As the single rider on a white mount is seen, all soldiers know that it is better to run, for the white horse will kick and strike hard, battling until his last breath is forced unto him by a cruel and unforgiving fate. It is a fate no Lipizzaner deserves, but alas they will all someday reach into the stars in one final journey. They will leapt no more as their eyes close upon this world. The might Lipizzaner has served man well. The stallions captivate the youngest children, of which now know within themselves, without a doubt, that if they sought with digits of willpower, they too could soar into the sky. The Lipizzaner is a proud horse and unlike any other. For unlike any other he may bound into the unsuspecting heavens and leave his hoof print in any cloud that he might wish to see closer. The limitless Lipizzaner is the only horse that may jump without first being prompted with wood or whip.

I take a creative writing class in school, in which we have to write a mutli-genre book. The topic I choose was the Lipizzaner stallions featured in the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, Austria. I have always loved Lipizzaners and am truly captivated by their inspiring beauty. Here I am giving the pieces that I have written for the book.

Oh my lord...I NEVER want to do another one of these. EVER. I'm not even going back to fix the errors in this one. For those who don't know, a calligramme is when you arrange words into a shape. Since this is a project about Lipizzaners, I arranged the words into a shape of a Lipizzaner preforming a courbette. Crispy Jeebus on a cracker with sharp cheddar cheese. It's a Hell of a lot tougher than it sounds. Not to mention the "poem" itself SUCKS.

Constructive comments appreciated!!!
