I finally decided just to suck it up and upload it. OLD line art (I'm talking beginning of July old) that's been redrawn over, colored over, and abused since then. X3
EXPLANASHUN: The blue streak was cool. The only problem was, it was damn near impossible to get it to look that cool when redrawn. Plus, it seemed to confuse a lot of people, and they couldn't figure out where/what it was. It was random and out of place. I commissioned some AWESOME people with that old ref sheet, so this kinda makes me sad... but like hell I'm not gonna wear that Huskie badge.
But it wasn't something VITAL to the design, so I figured I could replace it with something better.
SO. Not long after I started wanting to change a little, I saw a picture of a Blue Jay feather. GOT OBSESSED. I can only remember seeing a Blue Jay once, and that was with my dad after we went to see a football game.
He said something along the lines of "Seeing that was worth the whole drive out here
". Yeah, that was over 10 years ago, too. I made a lot of things on this ref optional, so I or anyone has the opportunity to try out different things, and so that there's just more room to move around.
Have you noticed, that I always eventually come back to some things? Like the eye spots, and the whitish/grey underbelly? Here I am, always bitching about never having the right look. This could be different, this isn't JUST right... when I think I've had the real deal sitting in front of me (or at least on my hard drive) the whole time. (Think back to this: http://www.deviantart.com/view/19766384/ ) I'm so damn picky... if it's not EXACTLY right, it HAS to be changed. Which is a problem, mainly because I don't know what EXACTLY is. I changed from that last design because... I suck, I guess. D:
It all boils down to... I'm young. I don't know what's going to suit me for the rest of my life. Something won't ever change, but a lot of things will. Onyx won't be the most original and coolest thing out there. She doesn't have to be. So what if I'm not a otter/dragon/elf/fox/baboon/oppossum/taur with 9738728 different colors and toes. So what if I can't find ONE thing and stick with it my entire art career like some can? It's GONNA change because I don't know everything.
SO AGAIN. If in the next few days/weeks/etc. I have some revelation or whatever and something else has to be different, I'll change it. But hopefully, I won't be a lazy ass and abuse this poor lineart anymore. D:
IF were doing an art trade/gift/whatever and something on there isn't clear, just ask me please? I realize I can't word things to sound exactly like they do in my head, and I promise I won't freak out or anything.
