I been knowing this from day one as I got my first Metal Gear game for the NES later on the MSX2 I always wonder where did I see this image on the box cover of Soild Snake will now for anyone wanted to know here's the proof of my discovery (note this maybe old news to some of you true fans but bare with me for any one else dont know) on the right side is the post-production movie photo of actor Michael Beihn as Kyle Reese on the set of 1984 Termainator and on the right is a scan image of Solid Snake on the NES box game of Metal Gear. And now you know.

I use to know the YTMND.com link that had these two pictures but overlayed then the pictures would morph between Snake and Kyle.

That is wrong in the part of Snake. They weren't even trying to change Snake from Reese at all.
