Mirror, Broken

I look in the mirror
My hand slides down the glass of something familiar
Steaks down into the truth
Nobody knows

You're not my Dad
That man is here with me today
My father, they still call you
Ron

If I saw you today
Would you be proud of me
Would you wonder what your boy has done
Would you care what he has he become
and
would it keep me from HATING YOU

Would the fear in your eyes keep me from twisting the knife
A boy, I'm not anymore
After all these years, a man I am
Bigger
Stronger
Fire burns in my eyes
Would you be scared of what you abandoned

Would my shadow snuff out your flame
My name means nothing to you
Know not, of my true nature
The red eyes, you've never seen
The black wings, you've never ever known

Would you see the scars
The world has placed on me
The world you pushed me into
Ron
The boy you ran away from
Ron

Unworthy
Worthless
Useless
Like a piece of trash
A puppy unwanted
In a time too hard

Now, that time is up
And my kin shall never know the taste of your abandonment
A grandfather, Ron? I think not.
You won't get the chance
You won't ever leave them
Like you left me

If I saw you today
Would you be proud of me
Would you wonder what your boy has done
Would you care what he has he become
and
would it keep me from HATING YOU

The other day I got a haircut. And, to my surprise, at age 22 the hairdresser has pulled out a pure white hair. I asked my Mom about this and explained how ridiculous it was. She then informed me my biological father had "Salt and pepper hair". She then disappeared into the back room and brought out a photo of my biological father. A man to which I've never seen before, but recognized.

A Truck. That's what felt like hit me. And, this piece of work slowly formed in my head to where I couldn't take it anymore and had to put it somewhere.

SparkyChu Says:

Aww... This is a very touching and emotional piece of work. Very beautiful. It must be very heart-breaking to discover information such as this at that age. I wouldn't know how it feels but... it's still very sad for something like that to happen. Parents shouldn't keep secrets like this hidden from their children. It's just so very wrong... I hope you feel better soon and I'll give my support as much as I can.

Nena the Bat Says:
