La Morte

A time comes
In every waifs dreams
When everything is all right.
Everything is happy go lucky,
and nothing wrong is even
imaginable.
Then that unimaginable thing happens.
like a bombshell dropping on Nagasaki
or Hiroshima,
The world just stops.
Like clockwork that falls from the shelf,
everything is immobile.
No sound
But an even more out of place thing.
The sun shines through crystals in the window,
casting beautiful rainbows across the walls of the room. The clouds cear away like a window
washed once in a blue moon.
The sky is blue and lovely,
and the leaves on all trees are aflame with autumn.
This is the day,
when we who have seen her,
know she is gone.
She has other things to do,
things only He can explain
and we all hope,
we'll be reunited
only Heaven knows when.

Touched by an Angel,
we were,
But now our Angel
has to watch from
the cloud
with the silver lining.

Will she look upon us with shame,
as we go about our lives,
seemingly forgetting for a brief moment?
Or will she smile
and know we will always
Always remember.

This is the memorial poem I wrote for Sarah, my friend who died of leukemia on the 30th of October. Exactly one month after her 16th birthday.

She will be missed.
