An idea I had to get onto paper.

Manticore - "I wish I had someone to spend some time with (tosses a coin). So very lonely. HELLO!"

Mouse - "I cannot believe this lioness is throwing gold into the ocean and here I'm starving. I bet I can steal a few gold without her even hearing me. Damn, does she have an oversized tail or am I seeing... HOLY SHIT!"

The preceding was a brief look into the thoughts of the characters depicted above. Thank you.

P.S. A manticore is a mythical creature with the body of a lion, a long scorpion tail capable of flinging spines and many rows of sharp teeth. Descriptions vary from source to source as with any legendary beast. Not a commonly depicted mythical creature but one of my favorites.
