Twisting yourself to please the others,
blinding yourself in search of fake glory...

Between repulsion and beauty, that's where this painting sits. It has alot of emotion. Theres many symbolic bits to it as well. I was thinking the thing she held represented her outside world, and that the strands leaked into her skin to control her thoughts, and made her block her own eyes from seeing reality. Then I read that it was a mirror that she was holding, and I understood the angle you were going for. Interesting.
The androgynousness of this character reminds me a LOT of the inner cover of Marilyn Manson's album Mechanical Animals. Easily the creepiest part is the mutilation of the eyes. It makes a good point though...well-done!
This is what real art is all about not how good it looks, but how much it meaning there is to the art. Um I think you shoulda really kinda changed the nose, lips, and jawline to make a more masculine look.
