Reunion
Two blue pools
Like the forgiving sea
Staring into my own
Twin meadowy orbs
The heat of your breath
Pulls my own away.
My heart beats
Perfectly in tune with yours
A shy smile is shared
A tear flooding my vision
As I wrap my arms around you
Resting my head
On your strong shoulder
Eyes drifting closed
As the beat of your heart
Pushes me deeper into bliss
Your cheek on my hand
As your soft breath
Drifts over my ear
As you whisper
You love me
My memories fail
As to what happened next…
I awake hours after
Alone in my bed
I have to wonder
Was it a dream?
A torturing fictitious figment
Of my hopes
I lay back down
Staring into the sunrise
Hoping to rejoin my dream
To reenter ecstasy
My eyes nearly closed
As the sandman draws near
I hear your voice
Not sure if I finally slept
Or If I was awake.
I roll over slowly
And see you standing
In the doorway to my room
With a small smile across your face
As you ask me
‘Did you sleep well?’
I smile
Not at what you said
Or some secret meaning
That didn’t exist
But at the fact
That it was no Dream
It was no fantasy of my tortured heart
You had finally come back
Finally come back to me.
