Sheezyart's Community - Take A Walk Upstairs
Everyone who has came here from DA can clearly find a few things wrong. DA has suffered from art theft and rather disgusting conflicts with artists posting their own works, which in every aspect aggrivates and brings you all here, correct? Now, you find in SA that we have a community problem. You don't get much feedback from the other artists, and most of your comments on your front page consist of "thanks for the watch/fav!".
We need real criticism here. Friendly, yet strict and extremely helpful. No more of the whole "Thanks for the fav!", I'm sure the one who faved it clearly has the artist's appreciation. And what about those comments on a picture that talk more about the show/movie/game, rather then the actual piece of artwork that was submitted? It aggrivates alot of us to be honest.
I won't lie that I haven't done my share of speaking of something other then art on the comments, but I do think we need to really peel it out and get this into a working, helpful, environment that can demonstrate the use of criticism and fellowship, without the hatred of everything else.
Also, I've found alot of Sheezits that leave SA, and post in their journal why Sheezy is bad and such. I ask those who are reading, to not do that. Not only does it hurt to see people leave, and leave such a vulgar post behind, but its unnecessary and rude. If people are curious, have them email or PM or send some sort of message to you. Or simply, just leave. It's cleaner, and it helps both sides.
You're all entitled to your own opinion on this, and I realize it's rather short, but I want to get to the point, for no compare and contrast essay is really going to bring us together unless you sit and read this, and realize, that yes, we are slacking off on real criticism and favorism. We are friends, but most people enjoy the friends who will help them improve, not simply agree with everything they say, and never give a reason behind why they said it, other then "Oh, because you said it. Dur."
Get up guys. Those people you watch? Go comment kindly on their artwork, and tell them how they can improve.
Those people that watch you? Send a kind PM to them. But don't blast their journal comments. It doesn't count as a comment then, it's just a simple add on of bandwidth that we don't need here.
Thank you.

Hear hear! I was just looking at my page the other day staring at all the "Thanks for the comments/watch/fav"s, and it was really annoying me... I guess that's why I like Journals, but you always have to start the conversation with that.
Minstrel Ayreon Says:
I totally agree...I also came here from dA and I've noticed the criticism issue, too.
I try my best to say something constructive where possible, but I'll admit I don't always have something to say.
But anyway, this is definitely something ALL in the SA community should take into careful consideration.
Honeytail Says:
ok that picture is really cute and a great way to get everyone's attention!
But yeah I think that people should stop comparing sites to begin with, instead of arguing over which one is better. Heck I've decided to just be part of them all, because each one has good aspects you know? Wherever you are, it's never going to be perfect. Great article. :)

Like I've said, this is an extremely well-written essay with very good points. I really hope that this will raise awareness for the Sheezy community. Once more, great job! ^.^

True DA has gone to the dogs lately, especially since jark got kicked off the scene. I think people need to stop comparing the two as well, I get bashed on here for being on DA, and I get bashed on DA for being here. It pisses me off, but the main reason I have both sites is because different friends are in different places and I like to keep up with their art. Secondly, I've had my DA page for over 4 years. As long as no one is bothering me (which isnt always the case...stupid people find me a lot easier on DA than here) I dont mind it. But its sad that the only place I can really express myself is here on SA, where none of my friends on DA even know i exist. WHich is kind of good when you think about it.

I think SA does need more community tight things as well, I feel like no one really gets around on here unless they have friends from DA/long term friendships. I just happen to stumble upon peoples pages and leave comments if I find something good/someone I know. I think we definitely need something to bring this new community together.

well, what's horribly annoying to me is mindless faving things, without leaving a good comment why actually the picture we speak of is so liked. as IF deviantart better, anyway, i left DA, because i got flamed a TONS of times, because they said i was ripping off someone's style. i like sheezy alot, there are already lots of tolerant people who don't just drop by and leave a goddamn flame-bullshit.
i like sheezy as community alot, the only thing what was just darn annoying was the thing with the downtimes, and the promises of coming back this'n'that day, but they didn't. unpunctuallity and empty promises are the most hated things of mine, that's what just pissed me off, sorta. but all in all, sheezy is awesome, in build, but thousand times more tolerant than deviantart, in my sight. it's definately really sad, that so many people left, people from my watch, i really miss many of them and their works, i don't just want them to enjoy at DA tho. anyway. it's really true, some people have to grab the initiative, i got the open mind to do so =/ it's just hard sometimes with about hundred people on my watch.

Oh, I love cats! You know, when I was little..-
NO.
I totally agree with you on this. And, to be frank, I hate it when someone leaves a 'thanks for the fav/comment/watch' comment on my main page because... because I don't know. I just don't like it and it seems pointless.
I think we really need a strong community here. It's looking good so far, but we need more 'community spirit'. If we all stick together, we can easily overcome art theft and other issues.
Yep, I'll definitely link this in my journal :)

OOOHHHH!!! Its soooo cute!

Also adding a link to my journel. ^^

One of my friends fave most of my drawings without a comment, but I don't really mind, I rather like it.
The cats! So cute!
moonscar Says:
Here, hear, my friend! That's so very true and quite refreshing that someone has reconized the very little communtiy of SheezyArt. After reading this, I noticed that most of the comments I set on other artists' front pages are simple "Thanks for the watch/fav"
We all should try harder on being more community-operated, and I can tell you this: I'm starting right now!
