Survived but Not Alive

Yes, I've done another dark picture of Bakura. (Are any of you getting sick of these by now? ) It's also yet another picture of Bakura in the aftermath of the massacre of Kuru Eruna (or Kul Elna according to the manga translation, but considering they've decided to use some dub names and started editing the manga I take all their spellings/translations with a grain of salt). This is also a semi-spoiler for Aurora and its sequel, but luckily it's nice and vague and thus open to speculation.

This is one of those pictures that started out as a simple sketch done for the heck of it that blown up into something more. After I had gotten a hold of some settei of the Ancient Egypt arc in Yu-Gi-Oh and saw that it included Bakura as a child I just had to try and draw him. The settei were interesting because they drew various expressions and poses for Bakura in it. I think originally the animators were going to expand more about the Kuru Eruna massacre and about Bakura in general (which would have made me a very, very happy girl), but for some reason decided against it at the last minute (which makes me a very sad emo goth farting suicidal bats girl).

The sketch was easy and the inking was surprisingly a breeze, but the coloring floored me, as the more I did, the more it seemed to demand to do the picture justice; especially when it came to choosing just the right background and add-ons. In the end a phrase that suddenly came to my mind decided it: "Just because I survived doesn't mean that I'm still alive..." I liked it so much that I just had to put it in. I find it rather fitting to Bakura's past self.

Another note I must make is that there are two versions of this picture: one that's rated PG (because it contains scary vengeful spirits) and another rated R (because it contains scary vengeful spirits and lots and lots of blood). Normally I don't do that sort of thing with my pictures, but I found that I enjoyed the end results of this picture so much, that I had to let those who don't like to see mature pictures enjoy this too.

Of course no submission would be complete without a plug. Considering the content, it's just got to be Aurora. (Insert standard warning against yaoi AKA boy/boy love here and an additional warning against those who don't like seeing Malik and Bakura paired together.)
