Bluebonnets

...last one for now, I swear DD.
Wouldn't it be fun to just relax in the bluebonnet fields, watching the fireflies dance and the stars appear?



I just love drawing Kalico (who is my calico cat-dragon fursona/character/me, if you don't already know ). I really wanted to do a picture that is semi-realistic, or at least show off the texture of her fur, because I've never really shown that clearly. I said it was mid-way short before, and very soft...but that's hard to visualize in a dragon x3. So, here is the texture of her fur as I see it! And also her back pattern, since I've never shown it .

I really had a lot of fun with this. I tried tons of new things (and the background took just as long as Kalico did x_x), and I'm pretty pleased . I also figured out an easier way of doing Kalico's markings on the computer by coloring her all tan and then using replace color and color balance n_n. MUCH easier to make it uniformaly shaded . The bluebonnets really killed me, since I NEVER draw flowers....but I'm glad that I made myself, as I kinda know how to do them now. x3 I did bluebonnets because...well....I'm a TEXAN, so I love them (they're the state flower) xD. They always look so pretty by the side of the highways and out in the country...so I had to draw them for once n_n. And the fireflies look more like shooting stars....but ah well xD.

This WAS going to be finished yesterday for my 2nd devBday....but then it wasn't xD. So now it is, a day late. This piece also kinda shows how at peace I feel at devART now . You guys are all so awesome; thanks for two fabulous years so far!
(This took much longer than it should have because for some weird reason, after the first 3 hrs or so of work on this, my ring/4th right hand's finger started really hurting....so I had to take plenty of breaks xD. I think it's the way I was holding my tablet Oo;.)

Time spent: 8 hrs? 6? no clue...it took about three days ^^.
Tools used: PS CS from scratch (digital sure is fun!)
