Possibly the most perfect foil character to Tyrone in the Hypermon series, we have Rupert, better known as Rex. The only people who call him Rupert are his parents, Jennifer, and Tyrone's grandfather (after he was about to lower Rex to the Japanese equivalent of a "little bitch"). No one else outside of these four people are allowed to call him Rupert. Therefore, they call him Rex. Rex has a twin brother, Reginald. As a matter of fact, let's go a little bit into that.

The two of them are two, dark, loner types. However, here's where shit gets really mixed up.

Rex, while he's supposedly the pure one, he greatly loathes his brother Reginald.

Reginald, though he's supposedly the evil one, he loves his brother Rex.

Rex (in RFF2 anyway) can control dark energy.

Reginald (in RFF3) has control over light energy.

Although Rex fights on the side of justice and all that's good, he hates Reginald, he hates Tyrone, he hates Bullzock, he hates just about everybody except Jennifer, his only and best friend. There are few things that Rex actually likes, as a matter of fact.

Reginald on the other hand, wouldn't even hurt a flea and he enjoys the companionship of others, including Jennifer. His problem, however, is that he was born and cursed as an evil child and no one can explain why.

It was because of Rex's extreme hatred, rage, fury, and anger toward Reginald that Reginald was forced to live with extended family members until recently.

The even more fucked up thing about this is that Rex is the twin that everyone admires for whatever reason. If Rex did well, everyone acknowledged it. If Reginald did well, no one paid much notice.

Maybe Rex is assertive. I don't know. Even still Reginald loved and admired Rex as his older twin.

But true to what's been predicted of him, Reginald houses some serious evil energy within him and he's given Rex a taste of his powers on a couple of occasions in their younger days.

After Reginald was forced to leave, his memory basically vanished from Rex's mind until his parents decided to bring him back.

Although Rex has been seriously torturing and tormenting Reginald, to avoid being kicked out of the nuclear family again, he tries his best to show love for his older brother instead of proceeding to kill him. The relationship between Rex and Reginald can be best compared to that of Inu-Yasha and Sesshomaru, except one is the hero and has evil tendencies and the other is innately evil but is pure at heart.

The only person outside of Rex's family that knows Reginald personally is Jennifer, because she's a childhood friend of both Rex and Reginald. The others come to meet Reginald in Project Hyperion when they learn that he left the house again to get away from Rex and then appeared in the Hyperion World. Reginald was in the Hyperion World for at least a month or so before anyone (parents included, damn these people are horrible) even noticed. Reginald was doing crazy, evil things in the Hyperion World in a way to get back at his brother.

Rex's Hypermon partner is Electro-mon. Electro-mon is the guardian of the portal where all new HTML data is created (or born in this case). Electro-mon is probably an excellent monster partner for Rex, simply because he has very sound judgement and, other than Jennifer (through her own very forceful ways), is the only person who can bring Rex to reason.

In RyuFox Fighters, Rex has control over dark energy and fights with his sword, the Crystal Bokken.

Of all my human characters, Rex has probably changed the most in both personality and appearance. When I made Rex back in 4th grade, he was going to be the bully character in the series. He'd give Tyrone a hard time just for the hell of it, rather than gaining actual competition. Rex also had a posse at this time. He had five other guys that used to follow him around frequently, taking orders from him.

But long story short, Rex doesn't hang out with his old crew as much. And he's no longer a bully. Just some dark guy that girls really seem to like now.

Appearance-wise, I could NEVER settle on a decent outfit or hairstyle for Rex up until just recently. Also, his swords continued to change hands. His original sword now belongs to Kitsune. Another sword he had now belongs to Tyrone. And a third sword he had now goes to one of my other characters, Yujimaru. Rex eventually got a fourth sword, the Scimitana, which my brother and I crossed between a scimitar and a kitana. Eventually, I dumped it, given that it was a big and clunky piece of crap. So I came up with the idea of the Crystal Bokken for Rex just recently, and since then, it stuck.
