This is a feather walkthrough I created. I had some people ask me for it here and in DA -- so I threw one together. Its long, so if takes a long time to load, I'm sorry.
This is just an example with a phoenix feather, it works with all of them. So that you can just get the concept. I was using Photoshop, but this is showing you really technique rather than how to use photoshop. So it should work with any modern paint program. At the top of each picture (except the first and the last) the paint brush size/opacity and color to the left is shown.
