Well, this is the project that I have been working countless hours on. Guzzling plenty of caffiene drinks and getting bad hand cramps all along the way. Still, I gotta say that I'm rather proud of how this little guy turned out.

Here's a little info on him:
- He's made entirely out of wax! I found out the hard way how difficult wax can be to work with. Though it's a terrific medium in which to sculpt, it's not very pliable. In fact, if you were to grab a large chunk and squeeze it, you'd hardly make a dent in it. The best way in which to use wax, is to either heat it up slightly via hairdryer or microwave, or just cut off tiny pieces at a time and stick them together (which is what I did...

).
- I used NO armature in the process of making this little guy! None at all. Which, I gotta tell ya...rather sucks. =_= I couldn't use an armature, otherwise when I bronze him, everything would be screwed up. Because of such, I had a difficult time at first trying to figure out how to make the tiny fingers and wings. Eventually, I managed to create fairly realistic looking fingers/toes without wire. :)
- He's aproximately 4 inches high (from chest to top of head) and 10 inches long (from tip of hands to tail). This makes him fairly heavy already in his wax form...I hate to ask what his bronze form will weigh.

(I didn't think of that ahead of time...lol)
- Though the pictures don't show it too well, he's quite highly detailed. He has skin around his eyes, cuticles around his claws, pads on his feet, and even nostrils.
Well, that's about it. There are parts that I wish I could go back and change/redo, but due to time constraints (he's due tomorrow for bronzing!) I won't be able to complete them. :( I would have liked to work out the tail better, along with putting more details on the wings...maybe making the scales nicer. Ah well.
My greatest hope is to be able to make a copy of him to send to my relatives in Germany. :) They were kind enough to bring me a lovely plastic Berlin bear statue (based off of an original bronze one) that was used in a festival over there. I would really love to repay that favor.

I already commented on the above view on this, but I wanted to say again that I love this dragon. T_T So cutes.
And now, I can't possibly imagine how you are going to bronze something with so much detail. Then again, I know nothing about bronzing. Can't wait to see the end result though.
