Washington Monument
Pale, a grim white,
Like a spearhead that marks his legacy,
The flags that represent that which he,
Made in centuries past.
Tall like the commander that will lead,
Us all to victory.
It's monotone color scheme reads but one message,
"America"
Amongst all our architectural beauties,
It stands out, like the Revolutionist in 'the crowd'.
Bursting out, in a field of emerald grass.
Like a spearhead that marks his legacy.
I was in Washington DC two years ago or so and I decided to take a photo of Washington Monument (one of the many photos taken there). I made an imagery poem for it when I was bored one day so here we are. My sense of nationalism is in the negatives (if such a thing can be measured), thats true, but my sense of pride in our founding fathers and our few architectual beauties has not diminished (note that when I say 'our', I mean The United States of America).
