Matt Sucks

He sat briskly in the chair and clutched the phone greedily in his hand. The nurse closed the door after
watching him take his seat.

"Dad?" Matt hesitated while speaking.

"Hello son," the man from the other receiver replied. Matt's heart skipped a beat as he longed to hear the familiar voice.
He had so much to say and so little time to speak.

"Dad," the overwhelming emotions made him speak through stuffled sobs. "When do I get to come home?"

"Not until you're better son."

"But Dad--"

"Now son, you only have to be in there for a little while longer." Matt gritted his teeth as he's heard him say that every week that he called.
His stomach growled but he ignored the hunger pains. His mind was racing through the elapsed memories of the kids around him getting pill after
pill shoved down there throat, kids being tied to their beds and screaming as they were injected with sedatives, kids lining up for their minimal meals,
and the cold showers that they endured every morning. For a second he thought the pills he was given were starting to wear off but the little voice in his
head returned during the moment of silence he had with his father.

"Remember son, I'm doing this because I love you--" his father's sentence was cut off by the click of the phone being slammed on the reciever.

This is actually based off of what one of my friends had told me when he went to Provo. All his dad would say is "I'm doing this because I love you". It's definitly one of the saddest things I've ever heard. Provo is a very fucked up place, and the stories from it mess with my head even though I've never been there. There's a petition going around to close that treatment center down.
