Metal Face Osaka

I've been doing a lot of brainstorming as of late and this idea happened to pop in my head as I was listening to a song by MF Doom and reading an volume of Azumanga Daioh the manga. Osaka is one of my favorite anime characters, so much to the point that her and I share some of the same character traits.(Scary, ne?) MF Doom on the other hand, is one of my favorite emcees of all time. With his witty punchlines and sense of humor, he never ceases to amaze me with some of the things that comes out his mouth, not to mention that anyone that can rock a mask to look like Dr. Doom is pretty damn cool in my book. Basically, this is a drawing paying homage to both of them.

As far as this drawing goes, I was at first thinking of just simply drawing Osaka with MF Doom's mask (altered helmet of Maximus from Gladiator)on, but it seemed to lack on creativity on my part. So, after playing around with the thought for a bit, in came the idea to just give her a metal face altogether, kind of like Destro from G.I. Joe but with a sketchy scrap metal feel. It took me a little while to get started since I haven't drawn anything in months, but once I got going, it was fun and easy... with the exception of her hands. In my eyes, hands and feet are an abomination of the devil and if it was up to me, every drawing that I sketch would be devoid of them, making every person that I drew a handless freak of nature. Or at least someone that practices slapboxing with just a stumpy nub. I usually leave my drawings in black and white, but I've been dying to try my hands with colored pencils, so as you see, I also gave that a try. It didn't out the way that I wanted it to, but eh; it's my first time with them. Hope you like it regardless though... *smiles*
