AAX April: Crystal - Natural Instincts

"The Phoenix may been seen as something of an ornamental song-bird. A gentle being that can heal others with it's tears and a being that is both graceful and loyal. Yet, a Phoenix still has raptor bred through it and that natural killing instinct will always return, behind it's delicate and ornamental appearance, the Phoenix is just as ravenous for the taste of meat as any other bird of prey, and their power should not be overlooked."


For Crystal Phoenix, I got her in this months Avian Art Exchange round.

I had wanted this to be a lot better and thus I am not too happy with this. I had originally wanted to portray Crystal over a kill, defending it in the bird of prey manner but my brain had other ideas and hence I churned out something a kin to the sort of poses I always do. I somehow also managed to make her look too orange and so tried to compensate for that in the background. It looks better finished then I thought it would but I'm still disappointed that I couldn't get it to turn out the way I had wanted it to.

None the less, I hope Crystal likes it, since that is what really matters.
