Popped into my head after hearing someone say that they had read at one point that the fire-birds and dragons of chinese mythology were sometimes mates. Made me think "oo..... pretty babies...." and so I started doodling.

Yes, I have heard that tale too. =) It has to do mostly with Yin and Yang. Yin, the female part, is the Pheonix and Yang, the male part, is the Dragon. They both contradict each other, but at the same time are harmonious. :)
Anyway, sorry for rambling on!
