Because there's just something cool about a guy who plays with dinosaurs.
(I agree, by the way--Kaylee is definitely the most attractive woman on the cast. Something about the deliberately sexy way Inara looks turns me off. (Same goes for anyone who looks like that--see T'Pol, Councellor Troi, ...hell, I'd take Mary Ann over Ginger!
